The short version
Your memories belong to you. They are stored on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account. We do not run a server that holds them, we do not show ads, and we do not track you.
Memories
Voice recordings, transcripts, summaries, and your child's name and birthday are saved on your device and synced through Apple's iCloud to your own account. We cannot see them. Transcription and summaries happen on your iPhone. The speech and summary models are downloaded once from Hugging Face; no audio or text is sent with that download.
Family sharing
If you invite someone, Apple's iCloud sharing gives them access to that child's memories. You can remove people at any time. Nothing passes through our servers.
Weekly podcast (optional)
The podcast is off until you turn it on. When you make an episode, that week's transcripts, first names, and the few recordings the episode plays are sent to our podcast server, which passes them to OpenRouter (to write the script) and ElevenLabs (to voice it). The finished episode is saved only on your iPhone. Our server does not store your transcripts, recordings, or episodes after the episode is made. Sign in with Apple is used only to confirm the request comes from the app; we keep no account profile.
Notifications
Reminders and "episode ready" notifications are scheduled on your device.
Deleting your data
Settings > Delete Account in the app removes your data from this iPhone and, if you choose, from iCloud. Deleting the app removes the data stored on the device.
Website waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address to tell you when 2000 Days launches. We use it for nothing else and never sell or share it. Email us to have it removed. The website counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies.
Children
2000 Days is for parents and family members. It is not directed at children, and children do not use it.
